James Patterson's Filthy RichJeffrey Edward Epstein

An American financier and convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein posed for his last mugshot on July 6th, 2019, he was 66. He had been in the news for more than ten years when he was arrested for allegedly, sex trafficking underage girls in New York and Florida between 2002 and 2005. If convicted he would have been looking at a maximum prison sentence of forty-five years. He hung himself while incarcerated at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York on August 10th, 2019.

Epstein had a knack for numbers. He started off teaching math and physics and then got into banking and finance. That led him to recover stolen money from crooked brokers and lawyers, working for clients who embezzled money and consulting very wealthy people, companies, and governments, including a Saudi Arabian businessman. He also charged ridiculously rich people a flat fee to help them avoid paying taxes. Epstein acquired his wealth from access and skill. At least that’s what I understand. Nobody really seems to know how he made all that money or if he truly was filthy rich.

Money, Power, and Sex

Supposedly, Epstein was a billionaire who maintained addresses in Manhattan, Paris, New Mexico, and Palm Beach. He even owned a mansion on his own island, St. James, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Additionally, he owned a couple of jets, a Rolls Royce, a Bentley, nine Mercedes-Benz, and several Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He was close friends with Prince Andrew, Donald Trump, heads of state, Nobel prize winners, and other billionaires. He once flew Bill Clinton to Africa on his own Boeing 727.

On March 15th, 2005, Palm Beach investigators sought to charge Epstein and two of his assistants with crimes tied to his sexual conduct with underage females in his home. Five alleged victims and seventeen witnesses were interviewed. He plead guilty in 2008 for procuring a juvenile for prostitution and felony solicitation of prostitution in Florida. Epstein served only thirteen months in county jail and he was allowed to leave for work six days a week. I guess it really is “Who you know”.

Filthy Rich (2016)

James Patterson's Filthy Rich-BookJames Patterson writes a true crime story about his Palm Beach neighbor Jeffrey Epstein., a rich and powerful registered sex offender that had a taste for very young girls. He allegedly abused hundreds of underage girls, some under the age of sixteen, and had only a few lawsuits and a very short amount of jail time.

Included in this story are original police interviews with the alleged victims, as well as details of Epstein’s investigation. One of the most scandalous criminal investigations in Palm Beach history.

Jeffrey Epstein’s high-powered attorneys arranged a plea bargain for Epstein who avoided some serious charges. This story examines all sides of the case, it shows us how the government handled the prosecution, how money and power can get you anything as well as the awful ways in which the system failed these young girls.

A Few Details From the Book

The book starts off with fourteen-year-old ‘Mary’ as she’s fussing about looking nice and making a good first impression. She is about to earn an incredible amount of money. She was headed to the mansion in Palm Springs to meet with Epstein and give him a “massage”. Mary was just one of many girls employed by Jeffrey Epstein, who claims he only has a ‘thing’ for massages.

One of the young girls claimed that Epstein would pay her just to hang around the house or swim in the pool but she had to be naked. Another said that Epstein would turn girls away for being too old or a little overweight. He once sent flowers to a girl at her high school.

He was a predator whos sex addiction and lust lead him to the abuse of hundreds of young girls. When police searched Epstein’s home in 2005 they found nude photos of some of the victims hung up on the walls and genital shaped bars of soap. There was a hidden camera in a clock that he used to snap pictures of all those girls. The photos were found on his computer. Epstein had a perverted sexual craving which eventually lead to his demise.

Wow this is very eye opening information about Mr. Epstein. I only heard of him recently when he was arrested for the trafficking allegations. I had no Idea it went back as far as 2005. I would definitely want to find out about more about how he got away with these things for so long and managed to keep getting free. But like you said, it’s about who you know, and money talks in the US. good stuff TRACY!

  • Henderson

Wow, this review on this book is very good and I don’t mind trying it out at all. I could learn about the crimes and everything thereof. I must confess that I haven’t heard of Epstein before, he really has a whole ton of crimes lined up for him and he still dined and wined with the greatest people. That’s quite funny. He is a true gang legend and he also killed himself. I really have to read that book. I’m getting one.

    • Tracy

Thanks for visiting Henderson. I am glad that you found the review interesting. James Patterson did a fantasic job in bringing us the truth. I’m happy to hear that you will be getting the book, I hope you come back and let me know what you thought. Have a wonderful day.

Hello Tracy and wow, this does look like a very interesting real, I love reading and I especially like reading true stories, even though the subject of this book is something that may upset me, I would like to read about what actually went on instead of the media and newspapers versions which can’t be relied upon, I will buy this book though I hope James Patterson doesn’t go into to much detail if children were harmed in any way, however thank you for sharing this post.

    • Tracy

Hi Russ! I like you, prefer to read the truth, the papers and news are never really reliable. Even though some of the details may be more than we want to hear, it is the truth. I hope you come back and discuss your thoughts with me after you have finished reading Filthy Rich. Thanks for visiting, Take Care!

  • Dane

I must confess this is just too bad for anyone to get himself /herself into. Child or woman trafficking should be taken with all seriousness and victims should be made to face the full wrought of the law. For me this is a case of power and affluence. Just because he is in such position is what gives him so much mad impression he can do whatever he wants. I’ll love to read with whole story and have detailed information about it. Thanks for sharing.

    • Tracy

Thank you for visiting Dane. I couldn’t agree with you more, Jeffrey Epstein was a sick man and the way he used his power and money for such crimes disgusts me. I’m glad you found the overview interesting and I do hope that you read the book and come back to discuss your thoughts. Have a good day!

  • John

Wow, who wouldn’t want a good historical book for a good read.  I am not a news type so I didn’t really know about the strory of the trafficking but that man must’ve been really filthy rich. Hopefully there’ll be a movie about him very soon too or is there one out already? I’d like to read the book though. Your short overview sounds nice.

    • Tracy

Thank you John, Jeffrey Epstein was filthy rich and it’s just insane how people like him put that money to use. There are some things in the works I hear, but many people have turned them down because the story is so distasteful. I do however hope that you get the chance to check out the book, James Patterson did a fantastic job bringing out the truth. Have a great day!

  • Shelley
